The exact causes of breast cancer are unknown and thus a specific trigger cannot be pointed out. There are certain risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of cancer. We are listing them below

  2. Family history- certain genes are linked with breast cancer
  3. Previous breast cancer
  4. Family history of ovarian cancer
  5. Age of pregnancy- having children late
  6. Early age of commencement of menstruation
  7. Entering menopause late
  8. Taking up smoking within 5 years of onset of menstruation periods.
  9. Having dense breast tissue
  10. Having radiation treatment before the age of 30
  11. Alcohol consumption
  12. Use of contraceptive medication over a long period of time.
  13. Hormone replacement therapy
  14. Obesity with excess caloric and fat intake
